GOVERNORS
A governing body consists of a group of people from the local community, from all walks of life, who bring with them different viewpoints, experiences, knowledge, skills and ideas. They may be parents, staff at the school, local residents or representatives of local businesses, who work together as a team, with the headteacher and the leadership team to make sure the school provides their children with the best possible education - and constantly strives to improve.
School governors are a vital part of the leadership of their school. Their work is reported on in every school’s Ofsted inspection report. The purpose of governance is to provide confident, strategic leadership and to create robust accountability, oversight and assurance for educational and financial performance. They need to set high expectations and ask challenging questions, but are not expected to make day to day decisions about how the school is managed and run. That is the job of the headteacher and senior members of staff.

CHAIR OF GOVERNORS
As a former Primary School headteacher, serving on the governing body at Bournehall has given me the opportunity to continue pursuing my interest in primary education.
I enjoy being actively involved in the school’s development and delight in the fact that Ofsted has recognised the achievement of the staff in providing outstanding educational provision for your children.

I was a director of an international marketing business promoting Brazilian farm machinery in Anglo-phone African, Asian and Middle-Eastern countries as well as the CIS region. I have lived with my family in Bushey since 1984, and have enjoyed my role as a governor at Bournehall Primary School since 2018. My hobbies include foreign travel, jazz music, reading and watching cricket. Since retirement in 2021 I have taken up regular practice of yoga, walking and lawn bowling.

I am a retired headteacher and government education adviser. Our three children all attended Bournehall Primary School and I remain grateful for the start in life they were given. Now as a grandfather I remain strongly committed to state education and the desire that every child is valued and helped to achieve. As a headteacher for 23 years I know the challenges that children can bring, but also the joy, fun and laughter that is also there.
I am a volunteer at the National Archives in Kew and until recently was a national judge for the Teaching Awards. Reading, gardening, rugby and cricket help to fill any empty hours.

I am CEO of Robinson, with a career in sustainable business and driving the use of recycled materials in plastic packaging.
I have a husband, Jonathan, and a daughter who previously attended Bournehall Primary School.
Outside of work I spend most of my time taking our dog for a morning run or a walk and growing fruit, vegetables and looking after our garden. I spend time as a trustee for the Bushey Manor Field, helping to protect and promote the green space around us in Bushey.
