Response to Reading
As a class, we are reading and sharing responses to 'The Explorer', by Emma Carroll. This adventure novel is about four children, Fred, Con, Lila and Max, who crash-land in the Amazon rainforest after their plane falls out of the sky. They must learn to survive in the wilderness, find shelter, and hunt for food, eventually discovering traces of another human inhabitant and a map. The story explores themes of friendship, survival, and the environment.
Many children are keen to follow the text when we are reading to the class. Our next text is ‘Boy in the tower ’ written by Polly-Yo-Hen. Children are welcome to bring this text into school; please don’t forget that we have a fabulous local library.
BoomReader
All reading activity is recorded onto the digital reading record app BoomReader. It is a quick and easy way to track reading both at school and at home.
Readers of the week
Every week we track and recognise the top six children that have added the largest number of entries onto BoomReader. Could it be your child this week? Please continue to listen to your child read and ask questions about the text.
